Playable Concepts at Aalto University

The Playable Concepts project is run by Aalto University, Department of Media, funded by Aalto Online Learning

In this project, we create and examine the educational utility of small games that explain particular (educational) concepts. We also organise workshops for anyone to learn how to create their own “Playable Concepts” (go to About to find out more)

Our goals are:

  • To study, research and explore what simple, embedded, partial games mean
  • Host workshops on game making – especially for teachers and researchers
  • Create a library of small games that can be modified and iterated on to create and share more simple, embeddable games

Team:

  • Postdoctoral Researcher Annakaisa Kultima, annakaisa.kultima [at] aalto.fi
  • Postdoctoral Researcher Ylva Grufstedt, ylva.grufstedt [a] aalto.fi
  • Research Assistant, Doctoral candidate Solip Park solip.park [at] aalto.fi
  • Research Assistant Christina Lassheikki christina.lassheikki [at] aalto.fi
